Secretary General: Chukwudi Ilozue
Chukwudi, or Chudy for short, is a junior at Harvard College studying History and Science on the Medicine and Society track with a secondary in Economics. Chudy’s family is from Southeastern Nigeria but he was born and raised in Amherst, New York, a Buffalo suburb about two hours south of Toronto, Canada. In his free time, Chudy enjoys reading, running and tinkering with tech projects.
Prior to leading the first iteration of at HNMUN Africa, Chudy has served on the staff of the Harvard IRC’s university conference HNMUN, secretariat of HMUN Dubai 2022 and competed at model UN conferences in the U.S. and Canada. He has also been involved with international affairs at Harvard through the Harvard’s African Development Group, Harvard International Review, Harvard Program for International Educations and International Relations on Campus. Outside of international affairs, Chudy is involved in Harvard Radio Broadcasting (WHRB) and Harvard’s Open Data Project. He looks forward to meeting you all this March!
Director General: Oscar Berry
Oscar Berry is a senior fourth year student at Harvard College studying history and international relations with a focus on 20th century military history and foreign policy. Oscar is from Boston, Massachusetts and has been involved in Model United Nations for over a decade since the 6th grade, where he fell in love with the immersion and connections from the Model UN experience.
At Harvard, Oscar has been deeply involved with Model United Nations through the International Relations Council. He has competed in the North American circuit through the Harvard Intercollegiate MUN team, chaired committees and run a Specialized Agencies organ in the Boston-based high school HMUN and college HNMUN conferences, and served as a repeated Board Member and Director of Strategy for the IRC. He has also been involved in expanding the IRC’s global MUN initiatives, having directed for the HMUN India conferences since 2020 and served as Secretary General of the conference in 2022. As Director General for HNMUN Africa, Oscar hopes to bring his experience in running conferences and his passion for the educational power of MUN to this first edition in March.
Under-Secretary General of Administration: Christopher Ruaño
Chris Ruaño is a sophomore double concentrating in Economics and Computer Science from Milford, Connecticut currently residing in the inimitable Eliot House. Aside from Model UN, Chris is a member of the Harvard Track and Field Team, where he competes in the high jump. Additionally, he does Economics research, gives tours with the Crimson Key Society, and works with the Y2Y Harvard Square Homeless Shelter. Outside of academics and extracurriculars, Chris enjoys all types of music from rap to jazz, reading, and long walks on the beach.
Under-Secretary General for Operations: Alexander Junxiang Chen
Alexander Junxiang Chen is a senior pursuing a double concentration in Neuroscience and Chemistry, as well as a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy. He is originally from the outskirts of San Francisco in Northern California and has been involved in Model United Nations for over 10 years. Most recently, he directed the World Health Organization committee at HMUN India 2023 and will supervise the International Monetary Fund committee at HMUN 2024 in Boston.
Outside of Model UN, Alexander loves to conduct research in health policy, lead the ESL program for Mandarin speakers at Harvard, conduct language documentation in Melanesia, play water polo, and drink double espressos.
Under-Secretary General for Committees: Kaleena Roeva
Kaleena Roeva is a junior studying a double concentration in Government and Economics at Harvard. She is from the D.C. area, but her family is originally from Bulgaria. Dedicated to Model UN since her freshman year of high school, Kaleena now serves as one of the Head Delegates of Harvard’s intercollegiate competitive team and as a Director of DISEC at HNMUN, Harvard’s college conference in Boston. This past year, she served as the Undersecretary General of Business for HMUN 2023 as well as the Co-Director of Training for the competitive team.
Outside of Model UN, Kaleena is interested in politics, business, and languages. At Harvard, she serves as Associate Director of Member Affairs on the Board for the Harvard College Consulting Group and has a deep interest in languages, with native proficiency in English and Bulgarian and professional proficiency in both Spanish and French. In her free time, you can find her grabbing coffee or watching Scandal on Netflix. Kaleena is thrilled to be your Undersecretary General of Committees at HNMUN Africa 2024 and looks forward to meeting you all! Under-Secretary General for Host Affairs: Patil Djerdjerian
Patil is a sophomore studying Government with a language citation in French. She is Canadian, originally Armenian, and was born and raised in Dubai. Growing up with a culturally diverse background in a cosmopolitan city sparked her interest in international affairs, which led her to participate in Model UN throughout high school and at Harvard as a Director for HMUN China 2023 and upcoming HMUN 2024. Outside of Model UN, she is involved in the Harvard Undergraduate Foreign Policy Initiative and Armenian Student Association. In her free time, she likes to read, travel and excessively drink coffee. She is very excited for the first iteration of HNMUN Africa and can’t wait to meet you all!
